Let’s Come Together: One Simple Step at a Time

In a fast-paced world where schedules are filling up and priorities are piling up, it might seem like taking care of your mental health requires extra time or significant effort.
And yet, it is often the simplest—and most human—actions that have the greatest impact.
During Mental Health Week, May 4–8, 2026, the theme “Let’s come together!” reminds us of a fundamental truth: mental health isn’t a solo journey. It thrives on the quality of our connections.

Connections: An Often Underestimated Lever
There’s a lot of talk about stress management, work-life balance, and recovery. These factors are important. However, we sometimes forget just how crucial our daily human interactions are.
A sincere conversation, a moment of genuine presence, or a simple “How are you, really?” can change the course of a day. These gestures don’t solve everything. But they help reduce feelings of isolation, even if only briefly. And that makes a real difference.
Rethinking Interactions as a Well-Being Strategy
Rather than viewing interactions as extra time to add to an already busy day, it can be helpful to look at them differently. Human interactions can become a practical tool for conserving energy, maintaining mental clarity, and improving engagement at work.
It’s not about doing more, but about doing things differently.
Five Simple Ways to Strengthen Connections in Your Daily Life
Here are a few examples of small gestures that can easily be incorporated into a workday without adding to your mental load:
1. Pay attention to moments of transition
Replacing a quick greeting with eye contact and a full sentence helps create a moment of genuine presence.
2. Ask an open-ended question and listen to the answer
Even a brief exchange can become meaningful when approached with attention.
3. Combine a break with an interaction
Turning a coffee break or a walk into an opportunity to connect helps nourish both energy and relationships.
4. Express simple, specific appreciation
Pointing out a specific action or contribution strengthens a sense of belonging and acknowledges efforts.
5. Send a spontaneous message
A short message, sent for no particular reason, can have a greater impact than you might think.
Tangible Effects on Well-Being and the Work Environment
Taken individually, these actions may seem small. Together, they help create a more supportive environment. They foster a sense of belonging, reduce mental load, sustain emotional energy, and improve the quality of interactions. Beyond formal strategies, it is often these simple practices that make everyday life more humane and sustainable.
Taking care of your mental health doesn’t necessarily mean doing more.
Sometimes, it simply starts with reaching out a little more often.
Because, more often than not, we cope better when we feel connected to others.
Taking it further as a team: these principles take on even greater meaning when applied at the team level. It is in this spirit that the following workplace wellness workshop is based:
Cohesion and Well-being in Every Workplace
Work environments are changing, but human needs remain the same: feeling good, connected to others, and engaged in one’s work. This conference focuses on what fosters cohesion and well-being, both individually and collectively, in any workplace. Through a practical approach, participants will discover ways to adapt their work methods to preserve their energy, nurture positive relationships, and contribute to a motivating work environment every day.
